Brave New Works Presents 5th Annual Contemporary Classical Music Festival

Ann Arbor, MI - April 1, 2004 - Brave New Works presents four concerts
with its fifth annual contemporary classical music festival Oct. 22-26,
2002.
Festival Overview:
Tuesday Oct.22nd, Kerrytown Concert House 8pm
"ONE": Music by Andrew Mead, Shulamit Ran, Mark Kilstofte, Joan Towers,
Elliot Carter, Christian Wolff and others. Admission $25 rows 1-2, $15
rows 3-5, $10 general and $5 for students.
Wednesday Oct.23, Kerrytown Concert House 8pm
Guest recital: Matthew Ardizzone, guitar and Ulla Suokko, flute
(sponsored by the Finlandia Foundation). Admission $25 rows 1-2, $15
rows 3-5, $10 general and $5 for students.
Thursday Oct.24, U of M School of Music, Britton Recital Hall 8pm
Chamber music by William Bolcom, Bruce Broughton, and Carter Pann.
Admission is FREE.
Saturday Oct.26 U of M School of Music, Britton Recital Hall 8pm
"Art of the Fugue": This J.S. Bach's masterpiece inspires works by
Forrest Pierce, Tom Schnauber, John Berners, Thomas Gregory, and
Christos Hatzis. Admission is FREE.
Brave New Works festival performers include Chris Younghoon Kim,
conductor, Emily Perryman, flute, Micah Heilbrunn, clarinet, Maria
Sampen, violin, Tim Christie, violin/viola, Katri Ervamaa, cello, Amy
Ley, Harp, Winston Choi, piano, and Jennifer Goltz, soprano.
Brave New Works has been engaging audiences since 1997, presenting
contemporary classical music concerts and festivals at the Ann Arbor
Public Library, Canterbury House, Kerrytown Concert House, and the
University of Michigan Museum of Art, School of Music and Michigan
League, among other venues. In addition to performing in the Ann Arbor
area, Brave News Works' 2002-2003 season includes tours to Lewis & Clark
College in Portland, Oregon, the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma,
Washington and Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts.
